Philanthropy

  • One of the pillars of Sigma Alpha is Service. Participating in philanthropy events allows our members to positively contribute to our community. The Gamma Chapter not only raises money to support our sponsored philanthropy, we also host events to educate the community on our charities.

Our national service project is Ag in the Classroom which is a grassroots program coordinated by the United States Department of Agriculture. Its goal is to help students gain a greater awareness of the role of agriculture in the economy and society, so that they may become citizens who support wise agricultural policies.

  •      Every year the Gamma Chapter hosts our annual Duck Race in the spring. Our chapter mascot is the yellow duck, so for our major philanthropy event of the year we race rubber ducks down the Red Cedar River. The ducks that cross the finish line first win prizes that are generously donated by our sponsors. The profits from selling the rubber ducks goes to our charity.

This year the Gamma Chapter of Sigma Alpha partnered with Paws with a Cause. Paws with a Cause trains hearing and service dogs, provides lifelong support, and promotes awareness through education.
