Recruitment

  • Look back soon for information on Spring 2012 Rush!

  •      Sigma Alpha is devoted to building lifelong friendships and a bond of sisterhood between our members. We plan many social events throughout the year such as date nights, formals and one-on-ones with our brother fraternities. We also participate in many University and CANR organized functions. Having fun is part of the college experience and gives our members the opportunity to meet new people from other organizations and groups around campus.

At the Gamma Chapter, we have our own sorority house that offers members the opportunity to ‘live in’. Having a designated sorority house gives our members the opportunity to create the bonds of sisterhood and helps to establish lifelong friendships.

During your college years at Michigan State University, Sigma Alpha is concerned with promoting your career development. Sigma Alpha was established with an agriculture and natural resources focus but we encourage all majors to rush. We strive to build leaders in all field of study through the activities and opportunities that we provide.

The Gamma Chapter offers both Fall and Spring Rush. During Rush, there are many activities that help potential members learn more about Sigma Alpha.

Open Socials: We host BBQs, game nights, ice cream socials and many more fun activities at our house that allow potential new members to meet the Actives.

Information Sessions: During our information sessions we explain some of our history and what Sigma Alpha is about. This is a time for potential new members to ask questions and gain a better understanding of what Sigma Alpha is and does.

Preference Night: This is a night for us to learn about you. We will ask you interview style questions in a professional setting. This gives up a chance to get to know you better as well as allow for you to meet more of our members.

Pinning: If you receive a bid after Preference Night, you will be welcomed into our Sorority as a Membership Candidate (MC). You will then go through your MC education period before becoming an Active Sigma Alpha member.

If you have more questions about joining Sigma Alpha and the Rush process, please call Kate Huff at (734) 604-3974 or email huffkath@msu.edu.
